USATF Florida Annual Association Meeting

The 2022 meeting of USATF Florida Association will be on Saturday, August 27, 2022 starting at 9:00 AM with the election of “Athletes at Large” to the meeting, some Officials and some Coaches/Parent and Administrators, etc. The people who are elected will serve for the duration of the annual meeting only.

The meeting will be held at the Police Athletic Complex, 1924 W. Diana Street, Tampa, FL 33604. The cost of the registration is $20 which includes lunch, there is no reduced price for not having lunch and you must register and be a current USATF Florida member to attend the meeting.

Lunch will be catered by Publix which include deli boxes. These will be whole sandwiches: ham, turkey, roast beef or veggie with mustard and mayo packets in the individual boxes, chips a drink and cookies. Bottled water will be provided. Please contact Regina at trackminister@aol.com to reserve your sandwich choice by Thursday, August 25, 2022.

Hotel accommodations near the complex are: Holiday Inn & Suites, 11310 N. 30th Street, Tampa, FL 33612 or Hampton Inn & Suites, 3333 E. Busch Blvd, Tampa, FL 33612. Please contact them to reserve your rooms.

Besides the above elected individuals, others with votes at the meeting will be members of the Association Executive Committee and those that represent clubs. In order for clubs to vote, the Chair or President of each club must send to the Secretary (Sharon Walker) a club delegate form by Thursday, August 19, 2022. The form can be found on our Web site, http://florida.usatf.org or by emailing Sharon at secretary@florida.usatf.org.

Besides a General Meeting of the Association, our various committees will be meeting. In order for those in attendance at the meeting to vote in a committee meeting they need to be representing a club and listed on the Club’s delegate form. The only exception is the Officials committee where any currently certified Florida Official at the meeting can vote.

This year we will be electing the three Athletes-at-Large to the Executive Committee. Also, there will be a special election to fill the vacancy of Masters Track and Field Committee Chair. The term will be for just one year and the positions will be up for election at the 2023 annual meeting of the Association.

A candidate must be a member of USATF/FL in the month, which ends more than one month preceding the election (e.g., since the election is held in August, the membership must be processed by July 31, 2022), and must be at least 18 years of age (at the start of the term of office). To be elected for an Officer, Committee Chair or Athlete-at-Large position, candidate must be “3-step” compliant (Florida member, having a current Safe-Sport certificate, and have passed a USATF background screening).
