As we close out the year and prepare for an exciting 2026 season, I want to extend my sincere appreciation for your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to supporting athletes across our state. Your expertise continues to elevate the standard of competition in Florida, and we are grateful for each of you. Thank you to every official who served throughout the 2025 season. Your professionalism ensured fair and safe competition for thousands of athletes. Special thanks to those who stepped into leadership roles, mentored new officials, or supported multiple meets across the state. Your commitment truly makes a difference.
Below are this month’s important updates and reminders.na
• USATF Membership: 2026 memberships are now open. Please renew early to avoid delays in certifications or meet assignments.
• SafeSport Training: Must be renewed annually. If your expiration date is approaching, please complete your refresher course as soon as possible. Officials cannot be assigned without current SafeSport status.
• Background Screening: Renew promptly if your screening expires soon, as processing can take several days.
The National Officials Committee has released updated certification guidelines for the new Olympiad, including:
Revised rules interpretations and points of emphasis
Updated evaluation and advancement requirements
New learning modules in the Officials Education Center

December and January will feature multiple training sessions, including:
Starter, Umpire, and Field Event refreshers
Youth meet protocol review
Meet management and timing system training (FinishLynx, Hy-Tek, Field Lynx)
New Officials Orientation

The 2026 Florida indoor and outdoor calendar is being finalized. Assignment requests will open soon for all certified officials. Officials with updated membership, SafeSport, and background screening will receive priority. Here are a few requests I have received thus far.
