Whitney Ashley follows unexpected route to Olympic berth
INDIANAPOLIS-- American hurdler Keni Harrison has been chasing down the women’s 100m hurdles world record nearly all season after breaking the American record at the Nike Prefontaine Classic in May.
FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas-- Fourteen athletes will represent the United States at the 2016 Thorpe Cup in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on July 29-30. The competition between Team USA and Germany will feature some of each nation’s top decathletes and heptathletes.
Breaking the youth national record in the boys’ 13-14 high jump twice, Trey Tintinger (Helena, Montana; USATF Montana) took the gold with a 2.00m/6-6.75 clearance on his third attempt.
Strong performances across all age groups resulted in three national youth records and a slew of new champions, and set the stage for competitive semi-finals on the third day of USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships at Sacramento State.

National Youth Race Walk Honor Roll Members Finish 1-2, Ewert Wins Sixth Lifetime Junior Olympic Crown at Second Day of USATF Junior Olympics
SACRAMENTO -- Nearly 8,000 future track stars are set to compete this week at Sacramento State for the historic 50th USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships. Opening day began with a multitude of events including heptathlon, pentathlon, decathlon, hammer and race walking.
BYDGOSZCZ, Poland -- Another sweep of relay golds and a pair of individual bronze medals lifted Team USA to a tie for its highest-ever medal count Sunday on the final day of the IAAF World Under-20 Championships at Zawisza Stadium. With 21 total medals, including 11 golds, the U.S. matched the 2002 and 2014 teams, and the 11 golds equal the second-biggest haul ever behind only the 13 won in 2004.
BYDGOSZCZ, Poland -- Anchored by the individual 100m champions, both Team USA 4x100-meter relays rolled to gold, and the U.S. got a surprise gold in the field events Saturday on day five of the IAAF World Under-20 Championships at Zawisza Stadium. Firmly ensconced at the top of the medal table with nine golds and 17 total medals, the U.S. also held an almost-100 point lead in the team scoring with 170 with one day to go.
