BARCELONA, Spain – It was another successful morning at Olympic Stadium for Team USA at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona. In three track event qualifying rounds, the U.S. advanced five of six to the next step while Team Co-Captain Gunnar Nixon continued his pursuit of the medal stand in the men’s decathlon.
BARCELONA, Spain – Team USA ordered one gold, one silver, and one bronze on day two of the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona. Historic Olympic Stadium was the stage for team co-caption Gunnar Nixon (Edmond, Okla.) to bring home the gold in the men’s decathlon, scoring a new American Junior Record of 8,018 points. Aaron Ernest (New Orleans, La.) grabbed silver in the men’s 100 and Jarrion Lawson (Texarkana, Texas) claimed bronze in the men’s long jump in what was a very productive day for the U.S. squad.
BARCELONA, Spain – Nine in the morning is early for most, but, for Team USA’s Brianne Nerud (North Shore, N.Y.), it was the perfect time to demolish the national high school record in the women’s steeplechase. Nerud’s performance was part of a busy morning at the opening session of the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona. Also highlighting the morning session, Team USA’s sprinting duo of Tyreek Hill and Aaron Ernest easily advanced in the heats of the men’s 100. Hill equaled with the top qualifying mark of the field, running 10.37 to Ernest’s 10.39.

Team USA concluded competition in the North America-Central America and Caribbean Under-23 (NACAC U-23) Championships in Guanajuato, Mexico, by bringing its total medal count all the way up to a total of 67 medals, which included 32 gold medals.
Central Park Track Club New Balance (New York) dominated the twelfth edition of the USATF National Club Track & Field Championship that concluded on Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
