INDIANAPOLIS - For the first time in the program’s history, USA Track & Field has named two individuals as Athletes of the Week. Jessica Cosby has received the honor after establishing the American record in the women’s hammer throw Friday at the Prefontaine Classic, along with high school athlete Meghan Vogel, who showed selfless sportsmanship at the Ohio High School Division III state meet.
On Wednesday USA Track & Field conducted a national media teleconference with Carmelita Jeter as she prepares for the adidas Grand Prix scheduled for Saturday at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island in New York. The reigning World Outdoor champion in the 100 meters and 2011 Jesse Owens Award winner, Jeter owns the fastest time in the world heading into a loaded 100m field at the adidas Grand Prix. The meet will be broadcast live on NBC from 3-4:30 p.m. (Eastern). Below are excerpts from the teleconference.

EUGENE, ORE. – Sanya Richards-Ross cruised in the women’s 400-meters while Reese Hoffa claimed the men’s shot put and both established world-leading marks as the 38th annual Prefontaine Classic concluded Saturday at Hayward Field. The Prefontaine Classic was the second stop for the Visa Championship Series and the third stop for the Samsung Diamond League.
