At the height of her career, Evelyn Ashford set the world standard for women’s sprinting. Whether anyone knew it then, Ashford was ahead of her time.
INDIANAPOLIS - Following his first USA Cross Country title in early February in St. Louis, Chris Derrick will lead the men’s team and Olympian Kim Conley, runner-up in St. Louis, will lead the women’s squad into the World Cross Country Championships scheduled for March 24 in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Already the American record holder in the 10,000-meters outdoors, Galen Rupp Friday established the American indoor record in the 3,000m with his winning time of 7:30.18 at the IAAF XL Galan Indoor Meeting in Stockholm. The time was also a meet record and the fastest time in the world this year.
