MOSCOW - Team USA’s 400m hurdles crew came through in intense competition, winning a combined three medals in the women’s and men’s races, while Jenny Simpson nearly pulled off a wire-to-wire win as she got silver in the women’s 1,500m at the IAAF World Track & Field Championships Thursday night at Luzhniki Olympic Stadium.

MOSCOW - Team USA made it through the opening rounds of the women’s 200m and 800m races smoothly, with three women advancing in the 800, and four in the 200m on Thursday’s morning session at Luzhniki Olympic Stadium.
On Monday evening, USA’s Ryan Wilson crossed the finish line in the men’s 110m hurdles behind fellow American David Oliver to claim the silver medal.
MOSCOW - On a light day of competition Wednesday, the U.S. delegation made the most of a free afternoon by attending a special reception hosted by the U.S. Ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, and the USA Track & Field Foundation.
Dwight Phillips will be faced with the rarest of chances Friday. He has the opportunity to earn his fifth World Outdoor Championship gold medal in the men’s long jump at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in Moscow, Russia, and place his name into elite company. A fifth world title in the event would tie him for the second most World Outdoor Championships gold medals all-time.

MOSCOW - Team USA advanced three men and women to the next round of the women’s 5,000m and men’s 1500m during Wednesday morning’s qualifying session, while Dwight Phillips also became the oldest man to ever advance to the finals of the long jump at the IAAF World Championships at Luzhniki Olympic Stadium.
Mary Cain (Bronxville, N.Y.), who turned 17 years old in May of this year, has spent a significant amount of the 2013 track and field season accomplishing things no one else has. There have been high school records, junior records and she is likely the first to carry a toy duck through a mixed zone, which she did at the USA Outdoor Championships.
INDIANAPOLIS — Brittney Reese (Gulfport, Miss.) has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after winning her sixth international title since 2009 with her gold medal in the women’s long jump at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in Moscow on August 11.
