MOSCOW - In advance of the 14th IAAF World Championships, coaches and athletes of Team USA met with members of the media at Luzhniki Olympic Sports Stadium. Below are excerpts from the press conference:
Ralph Reiff reflects in his tone his more than three decades of experience as an athletic trainer. A recent inductee into the National Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame, he speaks humbly, intelligently and with admiration for those he has worked with. He is equally engaging.His story is one that would have been difficult for him to fathom in 1975. How could a farm kid from rural Indiana one day be sitting in his chair and accomplish what he has?
A slew of new faces are in Moscow for this year's World championships. Some people might call this group “New Kids on the [Former Eastern] Bloc.”

After setting American records in their respective events at the USA Outdoor Championships in June in Des Moines, Iowa, Amanda Bingson (San Marcos, Texas, hammer throw) and Michelle Carter (Dallas, Texas, shot put) will look to carry that momentum and lead a strong group of Team USA athletes in the field events into the IAAF World Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which begin Saturday in Moscow, Russia.

USA Track & Field on Tuesday launched a first-of-its kind program that recognizes and promotes high school and cross country state champion teams, and their coaches, throughout the country.
