Deena Kastor celebrated her 40th birthday earlier this year by recovering from her third place finish at the USA Cross Country Championships and in preparation for the Pasadena Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon. Against elite fields, she finished third in St. Louis and first in Pasadena. While not a typical birthday month for a 40 year old, she is making a strong statement that age is merely a number.
Thursday afternoon Team USA athletes Allyson Felix, Aries Merritt and Ashton Eaton went to Moscow’s Red Square for a “photo op” along with Australia’s Sally Pearson, Japan’s Koji Murofushi, Grenada’s Kirani James and a few others. It was arranged by the Moscow Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and the IAAF.

Ralph Reiff reflects in his tone his more than three decades of experience as an athletic trainer.
