The USA Track & Field Foundation Chairman Bob Greifeld and Executive Director Tom Jackovic announced today it has awarded 29 youth grants to track & field clubs throughout the country. The grants assist young male and female athletes with expenses such as travel to meets, equipment, uniforms, awards and facility rental.

USA Track & Field remembers the life of the former Mt. SAC Relays Director, Dan Shrum, who passed away Friday, May 30. Shrum headed the event from 1988-1996 and was a man very well-regarded in the sport with many long lasting track & field relationships strengthened over those nine years. He last visited the event in 2013. Despite this loss in the track & field family, he will forever be a part of the Mt. SAC Relays history and tradition. He is survived by a son, daughter and grandchildren.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Another American record fell on the second day of the Nike Prefontaine Classic, as a sell-out crowd of 13,158 witnessed another phenomenal day of track & field at historic Hayward Field.

Galen Rupp broke the American record in the men’s 10,000 meters, crossing in 26:44.36. Rupp bided his time until the final two laps, moving in the front of the pack and getting the Hayward Field crowd on its feet. TrackTown was electric, as Rupp took his victory lap to a crowd of 7,500, the best crowd for “Distance Night” in the history of the Nike Prefontaine Classic. Rupp broke his own previous record of 26:48.00, set in 2011.
