INDIANAPOLIS – USA Track & Field is partnering this fall with local SUBWAY® restaurants in parts of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, encouraging kids to get active and stay healthy through the SUBWAY® “Fit for Life Challenge” programs.
LAUREL SPRINGS, N.C. -- The runners at the USATF 10 km Trail Championships enjoyed beautiful weather and views as they tackled the challenging course. The race took place at Laurel Ridge Camp and Conference Center in Laurel Springs, NC, right on the Eastern Continental Divide. The course provides runners with a mixture of challenges as the terrain is constantly changing. From the start on top of the mountain, runners are continually descending then climbing all the way to the final ¼ mile climb at 22% up to the finish. Fast times on the course require both speed on the smoother trails as well as technical ability on the singletrack sections. The soft conditions from recent rains added to the challenge for 2014 version. This year an even 100 runners took on the mountain with many excellent performances.
The Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games featured the debut of new and exciting track & field event, which combined athletes from all National Olympic Committees, competing on 67 randomly selected 8x100-meter mixed relay teams at a specially prepared venue outside the Olympic Village.

When track & field events concluded Monday at the Youth Olympic Games, Myles Marshall was the shining Team USA star as he won his first international gold medal to accompany the gold and two bronzes already accomplished by the Americans in track & field.
NANJING, China – Olympic long jump champion Dwight Phillips knows a little something about rising to the occasion and succeeding under pressure, a lesson he was excited to share with the 16 track and field athletes representing Team USA at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.
Myles Marshall’s parents devised a strategy for their son: Run your own race. He followed that plan to a "T" Sunday night and won a gold medal.
