TORONTO -- Queen Harrison shattered the Pan Am Games record in the women’s 100-meter hurdles Tuesday night to win Team USA’s first track & field gold medal on a day that saw the U.S. pick up eight medals overall.
TORONTO - Team USA collected four medals and set a Pan Am record to launch the first full day of track & field competition at the CIBC Athletics Stadium.

To make the race at least somewhat honest, I just decided to take it and I think I was pretty much consistently going 74-75 (seconds) for a good portion of the race. Then I started to crumble a little bit, and then that last lap, ultimately they had the kick and I didn’t.”
Queen Harrison, 100mH gold medalist On how she ran the race and where she placed her focus “I just tried to relax and execute my race and not try to think about anything going on to the left or to the right of me and just focus on my lane and my lane only.”

CALI, Colombia -- With temperatures rising, American athletes did the same on the fifth and final day of IAAF World Youth Championships at Estadio Pascual Guerrero, where Candace Hill set a World Youth best of 22.43 to become the first American to sweep the sprint titles. Team USA started the day with three medals in 15 minutes and ended with six medals on the day, and a record 19 medals overall, eight of them gold.
