USA Track & Field National News

TORONTO -- In the men’s marathon held Saturday morning at the Pan American Games, Team USA’s Craig Leon and Tim Young finished fifth and sixth in 2:19:26 and 2:19:34, respectively, on the four-loop course through Hyde Park and along the Ontario Place West Channel.
TORONTO -- Team USA ended the final session of track & field at the Pan American Games in celebratory fashion with a women's 4x100-meter relay record, 13 golds and a total of 41 overall for the most medals earned since 1999. The U.S. women won 23 total medals, the highest number since 1987.
Craig Leon, fifth place “For the most part, I think for the first two loops the pack was together. At various points during the first two loops, there would be somebody who pushed the pace a little bit and it would string out and then come together. I think for me, I just tried to ride out some of those early surges and tried to just put (myself) in the hunt on the last loop, and I think I was maybe seventh going into the final loop and was able to move up a couple spots so I was happy.”
Sprinters set the stage for the third day of action at the 2015 USATF Masters Outdoor Championships at Hodges Field on the campus of the University of North Florida.

TORONTO -- Team USA won gold and bronze during the morning session at Pan American Games at CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Athletics Stadium, where David Oliver broke a Pan American Games record in the 110-meter hurdles and Gia Lewis-Smallwood made the discus podium.
David Oliver, 110mH gold medalist and new Pan American Games record holder “It’s a major deal. At 33 years of age, I had turned down coming to the Pan Am Games a couple times in the past, and I was going to take advantage of it this time. I targeted the Pan American Games record as a goal I wanted to achieve here, and I was glad I was able to achieve that goal.”
