Herman Vernon’s passion for track and field helps earn Lifetime Achievement Award at All-Broward ceremony
Sunny skies and warm temperatures, even on a Chamber of Commerce kind of day, don’t always yield fast times during a half marathon. That wasn’t an issue at the OUC Orlando Half Marathon on Saturday, December 6 as some of Florida’s fastest competed for bragging rights at the USA Track & Field Florida Association Half Marathon Championship.
Capping a perfect season of 19 consecutive victories, Justin Gatlin earns USATF Athlete of the Week after claiming a pair of first-place finishes Sept. 5 at the Diamond League meeting in Brussels and winning his final race of the outdoor season on Sept. 7 in Reiti, Italy.
